Class Description

This 24 hour class will prepare students to read, interpret and produce drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing with Autodesk Inventor 2008/2009. For those needing to read or interpret drawings only, without creating them, alternate materials and methods will be available. Full Courseware is provided for each student. Ample time is available for question and answers every session. Class will be conducted in eight 3 hour sessions held Tuesday and Thursdays providing ample time for study, practice and retention of lessons.

Prerequisites/Student Participation:

Basic Inventor or Autocad knowledge, and basic engineering dimensioning principles.
  • Familiarity with drafting principles is recommended.
  • Working knowledge of Windows user interface, commands and file structure is highly recommended.
  • Student interaction during class is expected.
  • Completion of assignments and tests is required for certificate.
  • Each session is recorded in case you miss a session.

Hardware/Software Requirements:

  • Properly configured CAD System with Windows 2000, XP, or Vista (with compatible Autodesk software)
  • Sound card and speakers or optional headset for bidirectional voice communication. No telephone call-in required.
  • Hi-Speed Internet Access (DSL, Cable, FIOS on other Broadband Access is recommended).
  • 1280x1024 Full color resolution or higher, recommended, 1024x768 minimum. Preferences: 17" or larger monitor.
  • Optionally, dual monitors will provide the best experience, your Autodesk session on one monitor, the Live Meeting course on a second monitor.
  • Full Installation of Autodesk Inventor 2008, 2009 or Inventor LT 2009 is required. Sample class files will be provided.
  • Alternatively, for those not using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical or AutoCAD may be used. Trial (30 day software can be supplied)
  • Microsoft Office or Microsoft Excel is recommended for full functionality.

    This class covers part and assembly modeling in Autodesk Inventor 2009 and Inventor 2008. Basic understanding of drawings and presentations is included in the class. Ample time is available for question and answers every session. Class will be conducted in six four hour sessions held twice per week, Wednesdays and Fridays providing ample time for practice and retention of lessons.
